The Mystery Of Jaipur’s Missing Marigold Flowers

In January, 28 Kothi, our serene boutique hotel in Civil Lines, blew out a 6th candle on its birthday cake. It’s a rare day when you can tell whether the Kothi is occupied (we’ve always had the good fortune of quiet guests). On our birthday, our courtyard brimmed with Kothi enthusiasts ranging from the staff, who make the Kothi what it is, to charming guests who have patronized us over these years. As is tradition on a birthday, we laid a grand plan for our super sixth with this familiar crew.

To know 28 Kothi is to know its (unofficial) mascot. The white vintage Ambassador car that stays dutifully parked outside our sunny wall. In many ways it is a reflection of the Kothi, a quiet presence, known only to Jaipur’s discerning, never in a hurry yet moving ahead at a pace that’s uniquely its own. Two years of the lockdown imposed a stasis on Jaipur, our Ambassador did not leave its parking spot, and some of our plans got postponed.

We’re feeling optimistic about 2022. Our Kothi is now dressed in a fresh coat of the iconic yellow that defines us. Our intimate little eatery, Cafe Kothi has a new summer menu that stays true to Kothi’s wellness bent of mind. Focused wellness retreats and art residencies are on the anvil and lastly, we’re excited about reacquainting our resilient Ambassador with its beloved streets of Jaipur. You never know, it may transcend from everyone’s favourite mascot and become the Kothi’s official ride of 2022.

Stay tuned to find out!
